Transforming a Dated Kitchen into a Dream Space: A Story of E-Design Success

Author name

We don't always get the chance to showcase stunning photos from our E-Design Packages, so when we do, it's something special.

Why, you ask? Well, these packages are designed as a helping hand for DIY enthusiasts or for out-of-town projects that already have an installation team ready to bring our design ideas to life. Often, we don't get the opportunity to professionally photograph the final results because homeowners are so excited to start enjoying their newly designed spaces. And who can blame them? Good design is always welcome!

But this particular E-Design package was different. We had the pleasure of being involved throughout the renovation process, complete with additional video meetings to ensure everything went smoothly.

The Clients: Newlyweds who just purchased their first home together and wanted to truly make it their own.

The Project: They had a dated, standard kitchen with minimal countertop space, no contrast in materials, and not much room to hang out. The lack of natural light made it unappealing, uninviting, and what they had was just not very functional for their lifestyle.

Before:

A kitchen with stainless steel appliances and wooden cabinets.
There is a dining room table and chairs in the middle of the room.

The Renovation Process: To transform the space, the homeowners made significant changes, including updating the windows to allow more natural light and help the rooms feel like one cohesive space. The material selection process was a breeze because the clients already had a clear vision for what they were looking for. We assisted by designing the new layout, suggesting appliances, patterns, colors, and brand names, even sending actual samples to ensure realistic expectations on colors and textures.

The Result: We doubled the kitchen's size, brightened the space, and added much more countertop area for prepping, cooking, and hanging out. The centerpiece? A much larger island that serves as the heart of the kitchen, perfect for prepping while enjoying together. Now, the space is ready for creating enjoyable and memorable moments for a lifetime!

After: Dated Kitchen into a Dream Space

A kitchen with white cabinets , stainless steel appliances , a sink , and a window.

It's stories like these that remind us why we love what we do. Here's to more beautifully designed spaces and the wonderful people who make them their own!

Bringing Nature Indoors
By Juanita Sierra February 18, 2025
What is Biophilic Design? At its core, biophilic design is about embracing our innate bond with nature. It’s more than just adding a few plants—it’s a deliberate integration of natural materials, organic textures, abundant natural light, and greenery to cultivate a space that feels alive and harmonious. This approach enhances both aesthetics and function, promoting a deeper connection between people and their surroundings. The Benefits of Biophilic Design 1. **Boosts Well-being** Being surrounded by nature-inspired elements has been shown to reduce stress, elevate mood, and enhance mental clarity. Natural light, plants, and even the presence of water can create a calming atmosphere. 2. **Increases Productivity** Workspaces designed with biophilic elements foster focus, creativity, and overall job satisfaction. Studies suggest that employees in these environments experience higher performance and reduced absenteeism. 3. **Enhances Indoor Air Quality** Plants naturally purify the air, filtering toxins and improving oxygen levels, leading to healthier and fresher indoor environments. 4. **Encourages Energy Efficiency** Maximizing natural light and ventilation reduces the need for artificial lighting and excessive HVAC use, making spaces more sustainable and energy-efficient. Simple Ways to Introduce Biophilic Design into Your Space Let in the Light: Optimize natural light with large windows, skylights, and strategically placed mirrors to brighten up your space. Incorporate Greenery: Whether it’s a lush indoor garden, a green wall, or thoughtfully placed houseplants, adding greenery makes an immediate impact. Use Natural Materials: Incorporate wood, stone, bamboo, or other organic textures in furniture, flooring, and decor to create warmth and authenticity. Integrate Water Elements: A small indoor fountain or water feature can add a soothing touch while enhancing the sensory experience of a space. Embrace Organic Shapes & Patterns: Nature-inspired textures, patterns, and curved designs in furnishings, textiles, or wallpapers can bring a sense of balance and flow. Why Biophilic Design Matters Beyond its aesthetic appeal, biophilic design is about fostering wellness, sustainability, and a connection to nature within our daily environments. Whether designing a home, office, or commercial space, incorporating natural elements elevates both functionality and comfort.
